Submissions are Open for Vocable - HCC's student journal of arts and writing!

Vocable, HCC’s student journal of arts and writing, is open for submissions for the Spring 2025 issue. We’re looking for students’ best prose, poetry, art, screenplays/scripts, comics, or hybrid work. All HCC students are eligible to submit!

New Day and Time for Fall 2024

The HCC Creative Writing Club is back! This semester, we will meet at 2 on Mondays. Our meetings are hybrid, so you can attend in person or online! Join us in classroom 202 at the Katy campus and online via Microsoft Teams.

During meetings, we discuss creative writing and take part in writing prompts and writing activities. Occasionally, we have writing workshops where members can share their work for feedback from other members.

If you wish to attend in person, just show up! If you wish to attend online, it’s best to sign into Teams with your HCC student email and password before you attend. The link to attend online is https://bit.ly/cwclub2024. Try a couple meetings and see if it’s for you. You’ll have to be signed in with your HCC student credentials.  If you'd like me to send you a meeting invite, please email me from your HCC student email account to request being added. You must attend two meetings to be eligible to be a member of the club.

In addition to meetings, we put on various events related to writing throughout the fall and spring semesters such as hosting visiting writers, speakers, and spoken word artists. This year, we’re hoping to host a student writer showcase, produce the third issue of Vocable, the HCC student literary and arts magazine, and host the third annual Houston Poetry and Arts Festival.
